Tips: How to Save on Tires

If you haven’t replaced your tires in a while, it’s a good idea to check the condition that they are in and replace them if necessary. We’re quite sure shopping for new tires is not your favorite activity, but it’s something you must do to ensure your safety. If it’s the cost that you are worried about, we tell you how you can save money when buying tires.

Determine the Right Set of Tires for Your Vehicle

Before you start shopping around for tires, it’s a good idea to check which tires are a good fit for your vehicle. You can do this by checking the placard, which you will find on the side of the driver’s door jamb. You may also be able to find this information in your owner’s manual. For optimal performance, replace your tires with ones that are the same size as the current ones.

How to Save Money when Buying New Tires

Look for deals online: It’s a good idea to compare the prices of the tires that are suitable for your vehicle across multiple sites. Ensure that you also account for additional charges like the sales taxes and shipping fees.

Look local: It’s also a good idea to check the websites of major tire manufacturers and retailers in your area. You may find that these companies are offering incentives on the price. If the price is not as good as what you see online, it’s a good idea to call the company and check if they can match or beat the online retail price. It’s also a good idea to find out the cost for mounting and balancing the tires, and if there’s a fee to dispose of your old tires.

Ask for freebies: A big advantage of buying your tires from a local shop is that you may get perks like free road-hazard warranty coverage or lifetime tire rotations. Such perks could make all the difference to many car owners. Of course, what you get will vary significantly based on the tire maker’s terms, but there’s no harm in asking especially because you stand to lose nothing.
